Scalp Treatments in North Charleston, SC

A scalp treatment at Park Circle Head Spa in North Charleston, SC, is a one-on-one appointment for the skin under your hair. It starts with a magnified look at your scalp, then moves through a warm double cleanse, slow pressure-point work with steam, and a mask or serum chosen for what that first look showed.

It all happens in one private room in the Park Circle neighborhood, by appointment only. On Google, the spa holds a 5.0 rating from 14 reviews (checked October 9, 2026).

A facial for your scalp, not a longer shampoo

A shampoo at the salon gets your hair clean before a cut or color. Here the scalp itself is the appointment.

Layla spent more than fifteen years behind the chair as a stylist. She opened the spa to do the part of that work she liked most: caring for the scalp slowly and properly, with no clock on the wall.

Reasons people book a scalp treatment

You don't need a scalp problem to book one. A feeling about your scalp, or simply wanting an hour that belongs to you, is enough. Any of these is a good reason to come in:

  • Roots that look oily by mid-afternoon, or a scalp that feels tight and dry after washing.
  • Product that seems to stay behind: dry shampoo, styling cream, conditioner at the roots.
  • Flakes or itching you would like to see up close before deciding what to do next.
  • Tension that settles around the crown, the neck and the shoulders.
  • A quiet hour with your eyes closed and nobody else's appointment next to yours.

If oil is your main complaint, our guide to an oily scalp covers the daily habits that make it show sooner, and what helps between visits.

What happens during your treatment, step by step

Every ritual follows the same five steps. The length you book decides how much time each one gets, and you can ask for lighter or firmer pressure, or warmer or cooler water, at any point.

  1. Scalp analysis: a small camera shows your scalp and the base of your hair, magnified on a screen, so the rest of the visit responds to what is really there. Our article on what a scalp analysis shows explains what we look for and what a camera can't tell.
  2. Cleanse and exfoliate: you lie back at the basin for a warm double cleanse with Japanese scalp formulas, aimed at the skin rather than the lengths, to lift oil, product and buildup.
  3. Pressure-point work and steam: slow, deliberate work over the scalp under warm steam, to ease the tension that collects at the crown, neck and shoulders.
  4. Mask or serum: picked for what your scalp showed that day, such as hydration or balance.
  5. Second look and a plan for home: the camera goes back to the same scalp so you can compare, and you leave with a short routine to keep up.

Four ritual lengths, one starting point

The same four rituals described on the home page of our Japanese-inspired head spa in Charleston are what you book for a scalp treatment. Each one opens with the analysis and the deep cleanse; after that, we go as far as your time allows.

The four rituals and what each adds
Ritual Length What it adds to the analysis and cleanse
The 30-Minute Reset 30 minutes A brisk cleanse and scalp work for a busy day, with no blow-dry
The Essential 60 minutes A longer, more relaxing session on the scalp and a finishing blow-dry
The Signature 75 minutes An extended session, a treatment mask chosen for your concern, a mini facial or a hand treatment, and a blow-dry
The Ultimate Reset 90 minutes The New Milbon Gold treatment line, an extended session, both the mini facial and the hand treatment, and a blow-dry

Treat the times as a starting point, not a limit: each ritual is adjusted during the visit to what your scalp needs that day.

What the price depends on

Three things set the price of a scalp treatment here: the length you book, the product line used, and what the ritual adds on top, such as the mini facial, the hand treatment and the blow-dry. For current prices, call (843) 329-2154 or email info@parkcircleheadspa.com.

What clients notice, and the room you'll be in

Among the topics Google pulls from the spa's reviews, the scalp analysis comes up most often (checked October 9, 2026). Two clients described it on our site in their own words:

"She showed me my scalp before and after." Morgan McKinnon

"This was the most relaxing experience! I learned so much about my scalp." Diane Robison

Who does your scalp treatment

Layla, the practitioner at Park Circle Head Spa, sitting on a leather sofa in a navy and yellow top

Layla does every step herself. The same hands that look closely at your scalp also cleanse it, treat it and check it again at the end, so you only explain your scalp once and nothing is handed off halfway.

In South Carolina, cleansing, stimulating and beautifying work on the scalp is cosmetology, licensed by the state's Board of Cosmetology for the person and for the salon (S.C. Code §40-13-20 and §40-13-300). It is beauty care: it does not diagnose or treat scalp conditions or hair loss.

In the treatment room, the cleanse uses Japanese scalp formulas, and the 90-minute ritual uses Milbon's New Milbon Gold line. For home, Layla suggests only what your scalp actually needs, never a shelf's worth.

When a dermatologist should come first

What we do is care for the scalp; it is not a medical exam. The American Academy of Dermatology describes dermatologists as medical doctors who specialize in the skin, hair and nails, with expertise in diagnosing hair loss. See one before booking with us if you notice:

  • New thinning, bald patches, or much more shedding than usual.
  • Sores, bleeding, pain, or itching that won't settle.
  • Flakes that don't clear after using a dandruff shampoo as the label directs.

A sunburned, scratched or broken scalp should heal before any cleanse or exfoliation. Tell us when you book if any of that applies, or if you have had color or a chemical service in the last few days, or wear extensions or braids, so the visit can be planned around it.

Questions about scalp treatments

Is there a place for scalp treatments near Charleston, SC?

Yes. Park Circle Head Spa is in North Charleston's Park Circle neighborhood, at 1042 E Montague Ave, Suite G2, and every visit is by appointment.

Are scalp treatments worth it?

They are if you want a cleaner-feeling scalp and a quiet hour, and you know the limits. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, washing the scalp is what clears built-up product, dead skin and excess oil.

Your scalp keeps making oil afterward, so the clean feeling lasts until your usual buildup returns. Our article on head spa benefits checks each common claim against its source.

Should I wash my hair before a scalp treatment?

No. The cleanse is part of every ritual, and the analysis is most useful when it sees your scalp as it usually is, product and all. The rest of the day is covered in what to expect at a head spa.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable with an open neckline. Water and steam work close to the hairline, so skip anything you would mind getting damp there, like a silk collar or large earrings.

Is it normal to see hair come out during the cleanse?

A few hairs are expected. The American Academy of Dermatology says shedding 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal. If you are losing noticeably more than usual between visits, ask a dermatologist.

How much does a scalp treatment cost?

It depends on the ritual length, the product line and what the ritual adds, as explained above. Call or email for current prices before you book.
